Well before the recession my department was under discussion of being Outsourced, then the recession hit and they made redundancies across all the other departments.
Because of the uncertaintity with the possibly outsourcing some my department left to go to jobs elsewhere, which means I have got promoted.
Oh and we still haven't been outsourced (although that has still to be decided, but every consultant they have got it to look at the proposals has said it is better to keep it inhouse)
So, I'm not sure at the moment.

Presently unemployed from a job I had for 11 years. Corporate decided my position was no longer needed so two of us were let go on the same day from the IT department in August 2008.
The last time the unemployment rate was published for the county I live in, it was 15.3%. The surrounding counties aren't much better.
I'm hoping things get better soon.

That sounds like an interesting job.
I do hope you get to continue working.
